Camera Gear Up Keep

Hi Friends!

Today I am talking about camera gear up keep! I know… this may be a dry subject but there are some really great gems in this episode that you can take home and actually use.

First, it is important to keep your gear in a cool and dry place. This especially applies to those of you that live in areas with extreme temperatures. Cameras can malfunction when in these conditions. For example, if you live in an area that freezes your camera can freeze and will sometimes have condensation. Heat can also make a camera not work as well. Be aware that in temperatures that are 100 degrees plus your camera may turn off.

Second, I want to touch base on UV filters. Attaching a UV filter to your lens will protect the glass from getting damaged or scratched. You do not need an expensive UV filter, you can buy a cheaper filter that does not change the style of your lens.

Third, get your gear cleaned! Getting your gear cleaned once a year is good practice. You will know when it is time when you start seeing dust spots in your images. This is a result from dust on your sensor. By sending your camera in to get cleaned the company will blow air safely into the sensor and clean any dust.

Fourth, let’s talk about CPS! CPS or Canon Professional Services is one of THE best things I have ever done for my business. CPS is a service provided by Canon that cleans and repairs your gear. It is a yearly subscription that will ensure that your gear repair and cleaning is a priority. When signing up you will receive:

  • Priority gear maintenance and cleaning

  • Priority gear repair

  • Priority shipping

  • Goody bag delivered when you sign up

There are three different packages that you can choose from. Each package reflects the amount of Canon gear that you have purchased in the past. In other words the more gear the better package!

I hope this weeks blog post was helpful! Until next time, don’t forget to sign up for The LMP Collective Facebook group for everyday tips, tricks, and video tutorials.
